Stronger outlook into 3Q26

Aspeed will report its 2Q26 results on Aug 5. It previously reported June 2026 revenue of NT$1,310mn, bringing total 2Q26 revenue to NT$3,871mn (+23% QoQ, +72% YoY), which came in 3% above GSe and also exceeded company's high-end range of guidance by 8%. On the margin front, we estimate 2Q26E GM at 69.6% (vs. 69.2% in 1Q26; vs. guidance of 67-68%), as we believe Aspeed is passing through higher substrate and OSAT costs via pricing adjustments. Looking ahead to 3Q26E, we now expect revenue growth to strengthen further to 22% QoQ (vs. 14% QoQ previously), as substrate bottlenecks begin to ease and customer demand remains resilient, while GM should hold at a similar level of 69.5%.

Multiple drivers underpin a robust growth trajectory

We remain constructive on Aspeed's underlying demand trends, with customer order visibility extending and some orders already placed for 2027. Overall, we continue to see a favorable setup for Aspeed's earnings outlook, driven by 1) stronger agentic AI demand, where we see potential upside to AI-related general server BMC demand vs. management's prior guidance of around 8.5mn/12.3mn in 2026/2027E, supported by robust in-house CPU and general server CPU demand; 2) accelerating AI ASIC deployments with new market share gain for US AI ASIC customer; 3) rising AST2700 adoption, with the AST2700 now expected to account for 5%/22%/38% of traditional BMC shipments in 2026-2028E; and 4) easing supply chain bottlenecks, as E-glass quali fi cation nears completion and a new OSAT partner is expected to be introduced in 4Q26. Overall, we raise Aspeed's traditional BMC shipment forecast to 32.6mn/49.1mn/62.4mn in 2026-2028E (vs. 29.5mn/41.6mn/52.8mn previously), supporting a stronger revenue growth trajectory of 98%/85%/51% YoY in 2026-2028E (vs. 81%/77%/58% YoY previously).

AST1840 unlocks new growth opportunities

Aspeed had previously announced its new AST1840 chip, developed jointly with Lattice, which integrates FPGA functionality directly into Aspeed's chip. Notably, management believes AST1840's long-term shipment opportunity could eventually be comparable to the traditional BMC market, with volume production expected by 2H27. We expect that AST1840 will begin contributing to Aspeed's revenue starting 2H27, with GM being inline with the corporate average. We believe both CSP and enterprise customers are incentivized to adopt AST1840, as it strengthens FPGA cybersecurity, improves spacing e ffi ciency, and simpli fi es routing designs. Overall, we view AST1840 as a new potential growth driver of Aspeed and a potential catalyst for content expansion across future server designs.

Risk-reward incrementally attractive

Aspeed's shares have declined -31% from their recent peak in June (vs. TAIEX's -13%). We believe this weakness largely re fl ects softer AI sentiment, with investors likely taking pro fi t in high-PE names. However, we believe Aspeed's BMC business remains solid, as traditional BMC shipments are expected to come in much stronger than previously anticipated, with customer visibility extending into 2027, underpinned by the proliferation of agentic AI. Aspeed now trades at 33x GSe FY27E EPS, well below its past 5-year average forward P/E of 50x. Overall, we revise up Aspeed's 2026-2028E earnings by 10-15% and raise our 12m TP to NT$22,000 from NT$20,000 . With c.66% implied upside as of Jul 28 close price, we view the risk-reward as incrementally skewed to the upside and reiterate our Buy rating on Aspeed.

Forecast changes

We revise up our 2026-2028E EPS estimates by 10%/15%/10% as we factor in 1) stronger 2Q26 revenue, 2) higher BMC shipment forecast, and 3) new AST1840 opportunities.

Maintain Buy with TP raised to NT$22,000 from NT$20,000

We raise our 12m TP to NT$22,000 (from NT$20,000 previously) which is still based on 40x 2028E discounted P/E (unchanged). Our target P/E is inline with the long-term 10-yr avg. fwd P/E. Our key assumptions for CoE include: (1) 1.5x beta (sourcing Bloomberg), (2) a 4.25% risk-free rate (inline with GS house-view), and (3) a market risk premium of 6.25% (in line with GS house view). Our new TP implies c.66% upside from the current share price, and we reiterate our Buy rating on Aspeed.

Investment Thesis, Price Target Risks and Methodology

Investment Thesis - Aspeed (5274.TWO)

Aspeed is a leading Taiwan-based IC (integrated circuit) design company specializing in BMC (baseboard management controller) SoC, which is used to remotely monitor the physical state of servers. The company is the largest BMC supplier, with c.70% of the global BMC market share, and 85% of its total revenue comes from the BMC segment.

We like Aspeed as we expect its revenue/earnings CAGRs to further accelerate to 77%/88% in 2025-2028E (vs. 5.9%/4.9% during 2019-2023), driven mostly by AI server demand, especially started from 2025. Furthermore, we also expect server architecture changes will bring more business opportunities to Aspeed to drive up its TAM expansion within the server market. With more TAM expansion and more dollar content growth within the AI theme, we continue to see upside potential for its revenue and earnings growth. We have a Buy rating on the name.

Price Target Risks and Methodology - Aspeed (5274.TWO)

Valuation: Our 12-month TP of NT$22,000 is based on a target P/E of 40x (in line with its 10-year historical trading average) applied to our 2028E EPS, and discounted back to 2027E at 13.6% CoE. Our key assumptions for CoE include: (1) 1.5x beta (sourcing Bloomberg), (2) a 4.25% risk-free rate, and (3) a market risk premium at 6.25% (in line with GS house view).

Key downside risks to our view and TP: 1) A softer-than-expected server market demand recovery, 2) slower-than-expected BMC penetration within AI servers, 3) intensifying market competition.
